EU Oil Supplies Secure Amid Middle Eastern Instability
The European Commission has confirmed that the EU faces no immediate oil supply problems, despite ongoing instability in the Middle East and volatile crude oil and petroleum product prices.
A meeting of the Oil Coordination Group, comprising experts from the Commission, EU Member States, industry, the International Energy Agency (IEA), the Energy Community, and NATO, concluded that supplies to the European market remain secure.
The Commission noted that demand for jet fuel and diesel is being met through higher refinery production in EU countries and alternative supplies from global markets.
However, the Commission warned that the situation in the Middle East remains unstable, driving significant volatility in crude oil and petroleum product prices, particularly those of jet fuel and diesel.
