EU Soft Wheat Exports Rise but Barley Decline Continues
The European Union's soft wheat exports for the 2026/27 season have seen a mixed trend, according to data released by the European Commission. By September 6, total exports stood at 4.92 million metric tons, up from 4.16 million tons just a week earlier but still down 1 percent year-on-year.
Romania led the EU's soft wheat exporters this season with 2.52 million tons, followed closely by Lithuania with 0.85 million tons and Bulgaria with 0.43 million tons. Poland and Germany trailed behind with 0.38 million and 0.35 million tons respectively.
EU barley exports, on the other hand, have taken a hit, reaching only 1.65 million tons by September 6, down from 1.50 million tons the previous week but still down 39 percent year-on-year.
