EU Wheat Exports Plummet to 1.48 Million Tons by August 16th
According to European Commission data, EU soft wheat exports for the 2026/27 season reached 1.48 million metric tons by August 16th. This is a significant drop from the 2.90 million tons exported during the same period last year.
The EU's barley exports also saw a decline, totaling 0.60 million tons compared to 2.12 million tons in the previous season. On the other hand, maize imports increased to 2.12 million tons, up from 1.48 million tons a year earlier.
However, it's worth noting that there are some limitations to the data. Export figures for France have been incomplete since the start of 2024, while Bulgaria and Ireland's export data has been missing since the beginning of the 2023/24 marketing year.
