EU Wheat Prices Surge on Black Sea Disruption
The European Union's wheat market saw an increase on Wednesday, driven by rising prices in Chicago and concerns over the disruption to Black Sea exports.
Euronext wheat rose 0.9% to €237.75 per metric ton at 1555 GMT, with December futures reaching their highest level in over two weeks at €238.00.
The surge was attributed to a rally in Chicago wheat prices, which climbed over 2%, as well as the depreciation of the US dollar due to investor worries about inflation and public debt.
However, the jump in the euro's value against the dollar limited gains on Euronext, curbing price increases for EU wheat.
