The EUR/CAD exchange rate remained steady on Thursday, following a stronger-than-expected German Consumer Confidence Survey. The survey, released by GfK, showed a significant improvement in consumer confidence to -26.6, beating market forecasts of -29.6 and surpassing the previous reading of -29.4 in August.

The EUR/CAD cross received support from the Euro's stability following the upbeat economic data out of Germany. Meanwhile, the Canadian Dollar struggled amid lower oil prices, with West Texas Intermediate (WTI) oil trading around $81.10 per barrel at the time of writing.

Strategists at Rabobank cautioned that emerging supply shocks add to the disruptions from the Iran war, reinforcing the risk of more persistent tightness in oil and refined product markets if such outages and bans are prolonged.
