Euronext Wheat Prices Plummet Amid Abundant Global Supplies
Euronext wheat prices plummeted on Thursday, reversing gains from the previous day as abundant global supplies alleviated concerns about disruptions to Black Sea export flows.
The December wheat contract on Euronext declined by 1.7% to €227.75 ($262.23) per metric ton by 1623 GMT, marking a significant drop from its peak.
Traders cited the large long position held by investment funds in Euronext wheat as a major contributor to the market's vulnerability to periods of liquidation.
The European market followed suit with Chicago futures dropping more than 2% to a four-week low, sparking concerns about a potential halt to large wheat exports from Russian deep-water ports.
