European Gas Reserves Rise Amid Market Volatility
The natural gas reserves in Europe have reached a significant milestone, increasing to 61.82% of their total capacity. According to Gas Infrastructure Europe, this is a crucial indicator for the global gas market.
The EU's storage system has a total capacity of 109 billion cubic meters of active gas. However, despite these rising reserves, wholesale gas prices in Europe have risen to their highest level since March due to reduced supplies and concerns among traders.
Liquefied natural gas (LNG) imports in August are expected to total 6.7 million metric tons, which is 10% lower than a year earlier. This reduction in LNG imports contributes to the market's reaction to geopolitical risks and high demand for filling storage facilities.
