Europe's Natural Gas Prices Soar to Four-Year Peak Amid Iran Conflict
Natural gas prices in Europe have reached a near four-year peak as supply constraints linked to the Iran conflict coincide with alarmingly low storage reserves.
The Dutch TTF futures contract momentarily breached the 80 euros per megawatt-hour threshold, settling around 79.21 euros during early Wednesday sessions, its highest level since 2022.
The shortfall in global liquefied natural gas output due to the Iran conflict has created anxiety among market participants, who fear that winter temperatures could escalate prices further.
U.S.-based LNG export companies such as Cheniere Energy and Venture Global are positioned to gain significantly from the elevated European market prices, with shares of Venture Global surging 115% year-to-date.
