Exxon Mobil Raises Dividend, Defying Crude Price Decline
Exxon Mobil recently raised its dividend to $1.03 per share for the second time in 2026, extending its streak of consecutive annual increases to 43 years.
The dividend yield on Exxon's stock currently stands at around 2.55%, based on a forward dividend of $4.12 and a current price of $164.15 per share.
Exxon's decision to raise its dividend despite the brief decline in crude oil prices to under $58 per barrel in December 2025 has been attributed to the company's cumulative structural cost savings, which have increased to $16.3 billion since 2019.
Chef Darren Woods of Exxon stated that 'we're going to see two times the level of free cash flow in 2030 as we saw in 2025', with Guyana being a key contributor to this increase due to its recent crossover point after Exxon fully recovered its $55 billion investment and operating costs.
Exxon has also been reducing its net debt, cutting more than $7 billion since Q2 2026, while returning over $9 billion to shareholders through dividends and share repurchases during the same period.
