Exxon Mobil Stock Remains Steady Amidst Global Energy Market Volatility
Exxon Mobil's stock has been stable as investors focus on the company's strong cash generation, disciplined capital spending, and ongoing volatility in global oil and gas markets.
The energy major reported full-year 2023 revenue of around $344.6 billion, with net earnings attributable to the company at about $36 billion, a substantial profit level despite being below the record earnings achieved in 2022.
In the fourth quarter of 2023, Exxon Mobil's upstream segment benefited from liquids and natural gas production in key regions such as the Permian Basin and Guyana, while its product solutions and low-carbon solutions segments contributed refining, marketing, and emerging energy-transition revenues.
The company's management emphasized that it had delivered more than $9 billion of structural cost reductions compared to 2019, supporting profitability despite the moderation in oil and gas prices from 2022's elevated levels.
