ExxonMobil Awards $1.1B in Contracts for Mozambique LNG Project
ExxonMobil has awarded $1.1 billion in contracts for equipment and services related to the Rovuma LNG Phase 1 project in Mozambique's Cabo Delgado region. The US oil major made the awards on behalf of the Area 4 partners, which include Empresa Nacional de Hidrocarbonetos (ENH), China National Petroleum Corp, Eni, Korea Gas Corporation, and Abu Dhabi National Oil Co's XRG.
The contracts cover subsea production systems, large-bore production valves, and offshore line pipe. OneSubsea UK and OneSubsea AS received the largest contract, worth over $600 million, for engineering, procurement, fabrication, and manufacturing of subsea production systems, controls, and umbilicals.
Aker Solutions Mozambique will support in-country work. The awards are intended to support progress toward a final investment decision on the project, which was paused in 2021 due to security concerns. ExxonMobil lifted force majeure on the project in November.
