ExxonMobil Commits Billions to Mozambique LNG Project Ahead of FID
ExxonMobil has committed to investing $1.1 billion in pre-investment contracts for Mozambique's Rovuma liquefied natural gas (LNG) project.
The US-based oil and gas giant made the announcement, bringing the development closer to a Final Investment Decision (FID).
Mozambican economist Salvador Raisse warns that realizing the project's full potential will depend on maintaining regional stability, managing fiscal expectations, and ensuring indigenous Mozambique businesses participate in the supply chain.
Africa specialist Rutendo Hwindingwi notes that investors are no longer deterred by security concerns in Mozambique's northernmost province of Cabo Delgado.
