ExxonMobil Declares Force Majeure on Nigerian Crude Exports

ExxonMobil's Nigerian affiliate, Esso Exploration and Production Nigeria Limited (EEPNL), has declared force majeure on crude exports from the Erha deepwater oil field due to unexpected damage to equipment supporting export operations.

The declaration was made after a floating buoy used in export operations at the Erha Floating Production, Storage and Offloading (FPSO) facility was damaged on July 8th, 2026.

EEPNL says it is actively working to restore export operations and has notified relevant stakeholders. However, the company does not wish to speculate on the recovery timeline.

The Erha field produces around 200,000 barrels of crude oil per day, making it one of Nigeria's key deepwater assets.
