ExxonMobil's Chief Financial Officer Neil Hansen spoke at the Barclays Energy-Power Conference, emphasizing the company's strategy to operate across commodity-price cycles and changing energy systems.

Hansen highlighted ExxonMobil's ability to execute major projects at lower cost and faster speed than competitors, as well as its efforts to centralize operating organizations across the enterprise.

He noted that the current supply disruption shifts pressure toward refining, with oil prices settling into a relatively range-bound environment. However, Hansen said ExxonMobil sees refining as the current pinch point in the energy system.

The company's integrated model helps capture value as it moves among stages of the value chain, according to Hansen. He also pointed out that ExxonMobil's acquisition of Pioneer Natural Resources has performed better than anticipated, with synergies exceeding initial expectations.
