ExxonMobil Pledges Mozambican Inclusion in Rovuma LNG Project
ExxonMobil has assured business leaders in Cabo Delgado, northern Mozambique, that local companies will be included in commercial opportunities arising from the Rovuma LNG gas project. The final investment decision for the $30 billion project is expected this year, and once it's made, vendor events will be held regularly to ensure participation from interested local companies.
According to a statement released by the Provincial Executive Council of Cabo Delgado, Lauren Glushik emphasized that developing Mozambican companies is essential for the success of the project. The Governor of Cabo Delgado, Valige Tauabo, stated that his provincial executive will continue working with partners to build a favorable environment for private sector development and inclusive economic growth.
The Rovuma LNG project, led by ExxonMobil, aims to produce 18 million tons per year of liquefied natural gas after 2030. Mozambique has three approved projects to exploit the natural gas reserves in the Rovuma Basin, with another unit currently under study.
