ExxonMobil's 20th Block 15 Discovery Scales Up Angola Oil Production
ExxonMobil has announced its 20th oil discovery in Block 15 off Angola's coast, which has already produced 2.7 billion barrels of oil since 1998.
The company holds a 36% interest and operates the field, which covers around 1,044 square kilometers (258,000 acres).
Previous discoveries in this area have recovered approximately 3 billion barrels, with Exxon's latest find increasing recoverable resources.
ExxonMobil's control over capital allocation, project timing, and operating decisions gives it an advantage in extracting oil from mature fields.
