ExxonMobil's 20th Oil Discovery in Angola Block Exceeds 2.7 Billion Barrels Produced
ExxonMobil has made its twentieth oil discovery in Block 15 offshore Angola. The Vicango Este-01 exploration well encountered approximately 25 meters of high-quality, hydrocarbon-bearing sandstone.
The well was drilled about 370 kilometers north-west of Luanda and at a depth of around 940 meters. ExxonMobil operates the block with a 40% interest.
Block 15 has been producing oil since 2003 and has delivered over 2.7 billion barrels to date. The latest discovery is significant as it could potentially be connected to existing production infrastructure, reducing construction costs and development time.
