ExxonMobil's Hammerhead Project Accelerates Toward 2028-2029 Production Start
The Hammerhead project in Guyana is moving forward on multiple fronts, with ExxonMobil's President Alistair Routledge providing an update on its progress. The $6.8 billion development, sanctioned in 2025, aims to start production in the 2028-2029 timeframe.
Routledge explained that work is being done simultaneously to complete the major components needed for production, including drilling wells, constructing subsea equipment, and building the floating production facility, known as Essequibo 1899. This facility will process and store crude oil before it's exported.
The project involves 10 production wells and eight injection wells, with subsea infrastructure connecting the wells to the FPSO. TechnipFMC is responsible for supplying the subsea production systems, including subsea trees, manifolds, and associated controls from their Subsea 2.0 platform.
