The United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization's (FAO) Food Price Index rose by 0.6% in July, driven primarily by increases in sugar, cereal, and vegetable oil prices.

Sugar prices led the way, rising 5.6% as heatwaves and droughts affected European production and El Niño impacted Asian output.

Cereal prices also increased, with wheat up 5.8%, partly due to concerns over Black Sea export disruptions.

Rice prices remained stable, but corn prices rose 3.6% due to heat and higher energy costs.
