Fed's Hawkish Hold Fuels Gold and Silver Rally, but Uncertainty Remains
The Federal Reserve's decision to hold interest rates steady while maintaining a hawkish tone has provided a net positive for gold and silver prices, though it has also extended market uncertainty regarding inflation and interest rates until after the summer.
Jesse Colombo, an independent precious metals analyst, commented that precious metals showed relief after the Fed held rates. He noted that despite higher rate expectations typically pressuring non-yielding assets, gold and silver have performed well, indicating that a significant amount of negative sentiment has already been priced in.
Colombo pointed to technical patterns suggesting a potential rebound, noting that gold recently broke out of a triangle pattern that many bearish observers had expected to break downward. He considers this breakout a clear win, though he acknowledged limited upside follow-through so far.
