FIFA World Cup Trophy's Gold Value Takes a Hit
The FIFA World Cup trophy's gold content declined in value by £20,134, or 5.3%, during the 2026 tournament, according to Gold Bank.
At the start of the tournament on June 11, the trophy's pure gold content was worth an estimated £380,398.
By July 19, when Spain secured the title, that figure had fallen to £360,264.
The decline in gold value is linked to geopolitical tensions and oil price increases, which led investors to focus on energy prices rather than buying gold.
