Filipino Investors Get Gold Exposure Through New Equity Fund
ATRAM Trust Corp., an investment manager in the Philippines, has launched a new fund that allows investors to gain exposure to global gold-related companies without directly owning physical gold. The ATRAM Global Gold Equity Feeder Fund is a high-risk equity Unit Investment Trust Fund (UITF) that invests in a diversified portfolio of companies involved in gold mining and related businesses.
The fund offers investors an alternative to directly owning physical gold, allowing them to participate in the growth potential of companies involved across the gold value chain. According to Miguel Liboro, head of products at ATRAM, many investors think of gold primarily as a physical asset, but there is also opportunity in the businesses that support the industry.
The fund's launch comes amid market uncertainty and inflation concerns, with investors seeking diversification and higher potential returns. However, investing in miners introduces risks beyond movements in the gold price, including production costs and company-specific factors.
