Fire Contained on FSRU at Damietta LNG Port
A fire broke out on a floating storage and regasification unit at Egypt's Damietta Port, but was contained without causing any injuries or damage to the surrounding area.
The incident occurred on the U.S.-owned Energos Winter while it was moored at the liquefied natural gas terminal in Damietta. The facility is a key outlet for LNG exports and a regional node in the east Mediterranean gas trade.
Affected by the fire was also the nearby LNG carrier GasLog Salem, which was alongside the unit at the time. However, publicly available reports state that the blaze was contained within the vessels and did not spread into the wider port area.
