FireFly Metals' Green Bay Project Set to Revolutionize Copper Supply with $1.9 Billion NPV
FireFly Metals has announced a significant development case and A$190 million raising for its Green Bay Copper-Gold Project in Newfoundland, Canada. The project stands out due to its high-grade mineralization, long mine life, and stable regulatory environment.
The project combines characteristics that are increasingly rare in the copper development world: high resource grade, substantial scale, advanced geological confidence, and a jurisdiction with a stable, transparent regulatory environment.
The Preliminary Economic Assessment (PEA) released alongside the capital raise presents two distinct throughput scenarios. The base case is built around a processing rate of 1.8 million tonnes per annum, equivalent to approximately 4,800 tonnes per day underground. This scenario has an after-tax NPV of A$2.2 billion and a mine life of 32 years.
The expansion scenario roughly doubles throughput to 4.6 Mtpa, compressing the mine life from 32 to approximately 22 years while dramatically improving production intensity. The economic return on this approach is substantially higher, with an after-tax NPV of A$3.0 billion.
