Florida Gas Prices Dip Amid Soaring Oil Costs
Florida gas prices edged lower last week despite rising oil and gasoline futures. The statewide average price for regular gasoline fell by 1 cent to $3.87 per gallon, down from $4.08 a year ago. This modest relief comes as U.S. crude oil settled at $82.40 per barrel on Friday, up $4.22 or about 5% from the previous week.
The national average gas price climbed 5 cents to $4.07 per gallon, leaving Florida's prices below that level. According to AAA, drivers in West Palm Beach-Boca Raton faced the highest metro average at $4.07 per gallon, while those in Panama City paid the lowest price at $3.46.
AAA spokesman Mark Jenkins noted that 'Florida drivers saw a little relief at the pump last week, even as oil prices moved higher.' He warned that if crude oil remains elevated, drivers could see renewed upward pressure on gas prices.
