Florida Gas Prices Dip as Oil Costs Rise
Florida gas prices saw some relief last week as they slipped lower despite rising oil prices. According to AAA's Gas Prices, the state average fell by one cent per gallon from $3.88 on Sunday to $3.87 yesterday. In contrast, oil prices increased by 5% over the same period.
Mark Jenkins, spokesman for AAA - The Auto Club Group, noted that Florida drivers experienced a brief respite at the pump but warned that this could limit further price drops if crude oil remains elevated. National gas prices, on the other hand, moved in the opposite direction and rose by 5 cents last week.
The regional breakdown showed that West Palm Beach-Boca Raton and Fort Lauderdale remain among the most expensive metro markets at $4.07 and $3.87 per gallon respectively, while Panama City, Pensacola, and Crestview-Fort Walton Beach have the lowest prices at $3.46, $3.67, and $3.69 per gallon.
AAA offers several tips for drivers to conserve gasoline, including combining errands, driving conservatively, removing excess weight from vehicles, shopping around for the best gas prices, paying with cash instead of credit cards, and ensuring proper vehicle maintenance.
