Florida Gas Prices Soar Above $4 as Crude Oil Costs Climb
Florida's gas prices have risen to $4.14 per gallon due to higher crude oil costs, according to AAA.
The statewide average has increased by 23 cents from last week and 19 cents from a month ago, with the cost of crude oil being the primary factor behind the price hike.
U.S. crude prices have surged nearly 20 percent over the past two weeks, rising from $83 per barrel to more than $100 per barrel, which accounts for more than half of the retail price of gasoline.
AAA's Mark Jenkins attributed the increase in gas prices to heightened tensions in the Middle East and warned that if oil prices remain elevated, motorists could face additional upward pressure on gas prices.
