Flour Prices Soar in Pakistan Amid Severe Shortage
A severe flour shortage has gripped Pakistan, causing prices to skyrocket in major cities. A 10kg bag of flour now costs up to Rs.1,125, a significant increase from previous levels.
The shortage has also affected bakery items, with bread being sold for Rs. 25 and naan prices reaching Rs. 30. The association of naan and bread sellers has urged authorities to review official prices in line with current market conditions.
The rising wheat prices in the open market have added further pressure on flour prices, which have reached a new high of Rs. 4,650 per maund. This has raised concerns among consumers who are already facing higher food expenses.
