Bloomberg is warning of a new wave of rising food prices due to conflicts and unfavorable weather conditions. The conflict in Ukraine, military action in the Middle East, and extreme heat, drought, and wildfires in Europe are all contributing factors.

Russia and Ukraine account for over a quarter of global wheat trade, two-thirds of sunflower oil exports, and about one-tenth of corn exports. However, shipments via the Black Sea are becoming increasingly difficult due to the conflict.

The El Niño climate phenomenon is also expected to negatively impact key rice producers and exporters. This could lead to further price increases in the global food market.
