Ford Fires Back at Trump Tariff Threat
Ontario Premier Doug Ford fired back at U.S. President Donald Trump's threat to increase tariffs on autos and steel, saying 'he can kiss my ass'.
The threat came in a Truth Social post where Trump said the U.S. will hike tariffs on all cars, trucks, automotive parts, and steel to 50% in January.
Ford suggested that Canada respond by cutting off oil exports to the U.S., which would mean Alberta's premier, Danielle Smith, needs to get on board.
'We'll get Danielle Smith on board, so the cars that they're manufacturing won't be able to fill up, because we'll be controlling the oil and gas going down there,' Ford said.
Ford also proposed reintroducing a surcharge on Ontario's electricity exports to the U.S. and suggested Canada buy Alberta's oil and put it into a strategic reserve.
