Fort McMurray Set for 2027 Centennial Cup Return
Hockey Canada has announced that Fort McMurray, Alberta will host the 2027 Centennial Cup, presented by Tim Hortons. This prestigious tournament brings together the top Junior A hockey teams from across Canada to compete for a national championship.
The event returns to Wood Buffalo after a historic win in 2000 when the Fort McMurray Oil Barons captured the title on home ice. The 2027 championship marks the seventh time Alberta has hosted this event, putting the province and region back in the spotlight.
Oil Barons President Andrew Boutilier said bringing the Centennial Cup back to the community is a major milestone for the organization and local hockey fans. The tournament will give players the opportunity to compete on one of the biggest stages in Junior A hockey.
