FortisBC Pumps $2B into BC Economy with LNG Expansion Plans

FortisBC has announced plans to expand its Tilbury Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) Facility, investing over $2 billion in British Columbia's economy. The expansion is expected to create around 1,100 jobs each year during the four-year construction period and generate significant tax revenues for all levels of government.

According to Adrian Dix, Minister of Energy and Climate Solutions, 'The expansion of the Tilbury LNG Facility is an investment in B.C.'s future, creating jobs, growing our economy and helping reduce emissions through an investment of more than $2 billion.'

The Phase 1B expansion will also support the growth of the LNG marine fuelling sector, reducing emissions by shifting away from traditional marine fuels like diesel. The project is expected to provide around $15 million to $20 million per year in natural gas royalties to the Province.
