Fox News personalities have been vocal in their support for President Donald Trump's trade war with Canada, despite concerns it may harm the U.S. economy and Republican chances in the upcoming midterm elections.

Sean Hannity, a Fox News host, stated that he likes the idea of renaming Lake Ontario because of Canada's unfair trade practices, particularly its taxes on American dairy farmers.

Fox contributors Hugh Hewitt and Victoria Coates echoed similar sentiments, with Hewitt claiming Canada is trying to get a 'free ride' from U.S. defense spending and Coates calling it 'stealing our lunch' for years.

Some Fox Business personalities also welcomed Trump's attempt to seize more direct control of Venezuela's oil reserves, which they believe will give the U.S. leverage over Canada in the trade war.

Venezuela's current oil production falls far short of replacing what the U.S. imports from Canada, however.
