France Gas Price Surges by 6.3% for October Amid Global Market Tension

France's energy regulator, the Commission de régulation de l'énergie (CRE), has announced that the country's benchmark natural gas price will increase by 6.3% for October to an average of 182.88 €/MWh including tax.

This monthly rise is attributed to higher prices observed on gas markets in August compared with July, according to the CRE. The regulator links this surge to a market shaped by the war in the Middle East.

The increase affects around 6 million households that have signed up for a supply offer indexed to this reference price, or nearly 60% of residential gas subscribers in France.
