Freeport LNG Sees Gas Flows Rise After Train Shut Down
Freeport LNG's Texas-based export plant is gearing up to take in more natural gas on Friday, after one of its three liquefaction trains shut down due to a compressor system issue. The shutdown and subsequent restarts have been known to cause significant price swings in global gas markets.
The facility has informed Texas environmental regulators that Train 1 was taken offline on Thursday. According to LSEG data, gas flows to Freeport are expected to rise to 1.3 billion cubic feet per day (bcfd) on Friday, up from 0.9 bcfd on Thursday.
This increase in feedgas is likely contributing to a slight uptick in U.S. gas futures trading, which are currently up around 1%.
