Freeport Maintenance Cuts U.S. LNG Feed Gas Levels
The U.S. liquefied natural gas (LNG) export sector experienced a decline in feed gas levels during the second quarter, according to data from Industrial Info Resources.
Maria Sanchez, a senior natural gas analyst at IIR Energy, noted that maintenance issues at the Freeport LNG terminal were contributing to the decrease. Feed gas levels averaged around 17 billion cubic feet per day (Bcf/d) over the seven-day period ending July 24, down from a record of just over 19 Bcf/d set in late December.
Despite the decline in feed gas levels, natural gas production increased sequentially so far this year. Sanchez's data showed an inland production sample averaged 109.8 Bcf/d during the first quarter, rising another 1.1 Bcf/d during the three-month period ending June 30.
