Freeport-McMoRan Soars on Strong Q2 Results Amid Copper Price Surge

Freeport-McMoRan reported strong second-quarter results in 2026, driven by high commodity prices and solid operational performance. The copper mining giant's net income attributable to common stock reached $984 million, or $0.68 per share, compared to $772 million, or $0.54 per share, in the same period a year earlier.

The company produced 786 million pounds of copper, 192,000 ounces of gold, and 23 million pounds of molybdenum during the quarter. Average realized prices remained supportive, with Freeport receiving $6.17 per pound of copper, $4,520 per ounce of gold, and $28.75 per pound of molybdenum.

The company's adjusted net income attributable to common stock was $1.1 billion, or $0.74 per share, after excluding after-tax net charges related to idle facility and restoration costs associated with the PT Freeport Indonesia mud rush incident in 2025.
