French Corn Crop Hits 15-Year Low Amid Prolonged Drought

Crop conditions in France have hit a 15-year low due to prolonged heat and drought. As of August 24, only 28% of the French corn crop was rated good to excellent by FranceAgriMer. This is down from 29% just last week.

By comparison, at the same time last year, 62% of the crop was rated good to excellent, more than twice the current level. The persistent high temperatures and moisture shortages throughout the summer have caused significant crop damage and prompted downward revisions to corn yield forecasts.

The situation in France is crucial for the broader European market, as it is one of the EU's key corn producers. Deteriorating crop prospects are increasing concerns about lower French corn supplies this season, which may impact prices in the region.
