French Fuel Prices Still High Despite Oil Price Drop
Fuel prices in France have been on the rise due to tensions in the Middle East. The conflict has led to increased crude oil costs, with a barrel of Brent crude oil dropping by 5% to $83.18 after US President Donald Trump announced new negotiations with Iran.
The price drop has not yet affected fuel prices at filling stations in France. Petrol and diesel prices remain high, with diesel reaching €2.22 per litre on average in July, a rise of 5c in a week. Petrol prices have also increased, reaching above €2 per litre at the end of July.
The government has extended its €100 fuel aid scheme to August 31 for drivers who use their vehicles for work. Fuel giant TotalEnergies has renewed its price cap at all service stations.
