Fuelmakers Run US Plants at Wartime Pace Amid Global Demand Crunch
US fuelmakers have been running their refineries at an all-time high since the outbreak of the US-Iran conflict, according to a recent report. The Energy Information Administration revealed that refineries processed 17.4 million barrels of crude oil on a daily basis last week, surpassing the previous wartime high-water mark set in late July and any point since September 2019.
The effort is part of an all-out push to keep global markets supplied with diesel, jet fuel, and gasoline. This move comes as fuelmakers attempt to mitigate disruptions to oil supplies caused by the ongoing conflict.
