GAIL Expands Operations Amid Global Energy Supply Risks
GAIL (India) Ltd is expanding its operations across natural gas, liquefied natural gas (LNG), LPG, petrochemicals, and clean energy technologies in response to global supply chain vulnerabilities.
Chairman Deepak Gupta noted that recent disruptions in the Middle East and around the Strait of Hormuz have highlighted the importance of combining energy security with a transition towards cleaner fuels.
Gupta emphasized the volatility in LNG prices, shipping costs, and supply availability, which has increased the need for diversified sourcing and flexible infrastructure.
GAIL's natural gas transmission network now spans over 18,690 km, making it India's largest such network. An additional 1,500 km is under construction, bringing the total to nearly 20,000 km.
