GAIL Expands Pipeline Network Amid Geopolitical Tensions
GAIL India Ltd plans to expand its natural gas pipeline network and diversify LNG sourcing as it seeks to mitigate the risks of geopolitical disruptions, according to chairman Deepak Gupta.
The company aims to increase its pipeline network from over 18,690 kilometers to nearly 20,000 km with ongoing projects. It will also double the capacity of its Jamnagar-Loni LPG pipeline and develop three new LPG pipelines.
Gupta emphasized the importance of balancing energy security with cleaner fuels, stating that 'energy security has become as important as energy transition.' He noted that natural gas would continue to play a role in the energy transition due to its flexibility and lower carbon intensity.
