GAIL Navigates Global Energy Volatility with Steady Financials
GAIL, India's largest gas transmission and marketing company, has reported a steady financial performance in FY26 despite a volatile global energy environment. Chairman Deepak Gupta emphasized that 'energy security has become as important as energy transition,' citing geopolitical tensions and disruptions to LNG supply chains.
The company achieved revenue from operations of Rs 1,38,697 crore, up from Rs 1,37,288 crore in the previous fiscal year. Profit Before Tax stood at Rs 8,964 crore, while Profit After Tax was Rs 6,968 crore.
GAIL is expanding its natural gas pipeline network to over 20,000 km and has transmitted an average of approximately 122 MMSCMD of natural gas through its pipelines during the year. The company's LNG sourcing portfolio has expanded to 16.56 MMTPA, combining long-term contracts with market-linked procurement.
The Chairman highlighted GAIL's growth in LPG transportation infrastructure, petrochemicals, and upstream business. The company is investing in world-scale gas-based fertiliser plants in Maharashtra and Chhattisgarh, involving a combined investment of approximately Rs 21,000 crore.
