Gas prices are nearing record highs ahead of the Labor Day weekend, with Nevada's average gas price reaching $4.91 per gallon and Las Vegas' at $4.90.

Nationwide, the average gas price has surpassed $4 for the first time this year, according to AAA, while diesel prices have hit an all-time high of $5.85 per gallon, surpassing the previous record set in 2022.

High crude oil prices are driving up gas prices, despite the typical drop around this time of year, said AAA.

For truck drivers like Ryan Martinez, who has been behind the wheel for 10 years, fuel costs have soared. 'It wasn't as bad for diesel but now it's through the roof,' he said.

Martinez noted that higher fuel costs will trickle down to consumers, affecting prices in stores and everyday budgets.
