Gas Prices Remain High Amid Ongoing Conflict
The national average for regular gasoline is $4.09 per gallon, according to AAA, which is one cent lower than last week but still a significant burden on drivers.
The current conflict in the Strait of Hormuz continues to drive up crude oil prices, keeping them in the $80-per-barrel range and pushing gas prices even higher.
This August is poised to set a new record as the most expensive month for gasoline, surpassing the previous record set in 2022. The national average has been above $4 per gallon every day this month, with little movement on the crude oil front.
