Gas Prices Soar Amid Summer Demand
Gas prices continue to rise as summer demand for fuel increases, according to recent data from AAA. The national average price of a gallon of gasoline has reached $4.11, up 11 cents from last week. Higher oil prices, driven by recent volatility along the Strait of Hormuz, have contributed to this increase.
The New York State average is now at $4.23, an 8-cent rise from last Monday. In Western and Central New York, various cities are seeing increases in gas prices as well. Batavia's average price has risen to $4.27, while Buffalo's has increased to $4.29.
The recent increase in oil prices is expected to continue driving up gas prices throughout the second half of summer. AAA recommends that motorists conserve fuel by mapping routes, avoiding peak traffic times, and combining errands into one trip, as well as using cruise control where possible.
