Gas Prices Soar in SoCal Amid Crude Oil Costs
The cost of gasoline in Southern California has continued to rise, with the average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline reaching its highest amount since June in Los Angeles County and Orange County.
According to figures from AAA and Oil Price Information Service, the average price in LA County rose 2.6 cents on Saturday to $5.883, while in Orange County it increased by the same amount to $5.863, both setting new records for their respective areas.
The national average price dropped slightly, down two-tenths of a cent to $4.145, but is still significantly higher than this time last year, up 94.1 cents from one year ago and 6.4 cents more than one week ago.
Patrick De Haan, head of petroleum analysis at GasBuddy, noted that the national average has never been above $4 per gallon on Labor Day, with the current record being $3.82 set in 2012.
