Gas Supply Hopes Rise Amid Global Crisis
BNP acting secretary general Ruhul Kabir Rizvi expressed hope that normal gas supply across the country would be restored by the first or second week of September.
Rizvi attributed the ongoing power and energy crisis to global factors, including the US-Iran conflict and disruptions to fuel-carrying vessels through the Strait of Hormuz.
The government has allocated an additional Tk 40,000 crore to tackle the situation, Rizvi said, adding that technical faults at the LNG terminal in Maheshkhali had been repaired and regasification resumed.
