Gas Supply Restored as Damaged LNG Terminal Partially Resumes Operation

The damaged floating LNG terminal in Moheshkhali, Cox's Bazar, has partially resumed operation after repairs. As a result, gas supply to the national grid has been restored, and pressure in Chattogram's pipelines is improving.

According to PetroBangla Director (Operations) Md Rafiqul Islam, one boiler at the damaged terminal was restarted around 3:00 am on Thursday morning after completion of repairs. The terminal is currently supplying 115 million cubic feet of gas per day to the national grid, in addition to the 550 million cubic feet supplied by another floating terminal.

The resumption of gas supply has eased the severe shortage that Chattogram had been facing for several days. The city's daily gas demand is around 350 million cubic feet, but supply had fallen to 190-200 million cubic feet in recent days, leaving a shortfall of nearly half its daily requirement.
