Gas Supply Set to Return to Pre-Accident Levels in Bangladesh
Prime Minister Tarique Rahman expressed hope that gas supply to industries in Bangladesh would return to its previous level from tomorrow evening, following an accident at one of the country's two floating LNG terminals. The terminal disruption had caused a shortage of gas affecting various sectors, but according to the Prime Minister, the issue has already been resolved.
The three-hour meeting at the Prime Minister's Office was attended by business leaders and media personalities, where participants discussed the current situation and future plans in the country's power and energy sector. State Minister for Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Aninda Islam Amit made a presentation titled 'Challenges and Future Roadmap of Bangladesh's Power and Energy Sector'.
The Prime Minister acknowledged that the problems in the power sector are longstanding, inherited issues that cannot be resolved within six months or a year. He assured that his government is working on implementing plans to address these problems and has set up a specific timeframe for restoration of normalcy in power and energy supplies.
